Privacy Policy

Privacy in brief. One Day Clearer keeps your data on your device by default. Optional iCloud Sync securely syncs your plan, check-ins, and plant through your private iCloud database. An optional home-screen widget reads a minimal, on-device snapshot through an Apple App Group. AI planning is optional and requires your clear permission before selected planning answers are sent to our AI service. We do not sell personal information or use advertising trackers.

This Privacy Policy explains how One Day Clearer ("we", "us", or "the app") handles information when you use our iOS app and its optional AI planning service. By using the app, you acknowledge this policy. The app is a behavior-support and record-keeping tool; it is not medical care.

1. Information the app stores

The app does not require an account. Your core app data is stored locally on your device using iOS app storage. This can include:

your selected goal, usual drinking frequency and amount, common trigger, spending estimate, and safety-check answers;
your plan, selected plant, daily check-ins, and reminders preferences;
journal entries, including optional mood selections, future letters, private urge-support check-ins, weekly reflections, and journey milestones; and
app preferences, purchase-unlock status, your AI-planning consent choice, and limited on-device feature-use timestamps that are included only in a data export you choose to make.

We do not operate a user account system. Deleting the app or using the in-app “Delete all local data” control removes the app data stored by One Day Clearer on that device. This does not delete information you separately exported, shared, or wrote to Apple Health.

2. Optional iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync is off by default. If you turn it on, the app stores your profile, plan, selected plant, and daily check-ins in your private CloudKit database so they can sync between devices signed in to the same Apple Account. This data is not shared with other One Day Clearer users and is not visible in the CloudKit developer portal.

Journal entries, Apple Health access, purchase status, AI-planning consent, and notification preferences do not sync through iCloud. You can turn iCloud Sync off at any time in Settings. Deleting all local data while iCloud Sync is enabled also clears the synced plan, check-ins, and plant from the private iCloud record. iCloud storage is governed by your Apple Account and Apple's privacy practices.

3. Optional widgets

If you add a One Day Clearer widget, the app writes a minimal snapshot to an Apple App Group shared only by the app and its widget extension on the same device. That snapshot can include whether today is recorded, today's plan target, a check-in streak, and a plant stage. It does not include journal text, future letters, notes, urge-support history, safety answers, or payment data. The widget does not send information to our servers.

4. Optional AI planning

AI-generated daily targets are optional. Before the app sends information for AI planning, it presents a consent screen. If you do not agree, the app can still create a standard on-device plan.

What is sent when you agree

To create the requested plan, the app sends only your selected planning answers: goal, usual drinking frequency and drink count, common trigger, selected plan length, language, and safety-check result. It does not send your journal entries, daily check-ins, Apple Health data, payment details, or your device contact information.

How that request is processed

The request is sent to our Cloudflare Worker service, which forwards the selected planning answers to Xiaomi MiMo, an AI service provider, to generate a day-by-day target schedule. The Worker validates the response and returns it to the app. The Worker uses an IP-address-based rate-limit record, retained for about one hour, to protect the service from abuse. The planning request is otherwise processed transiently by the Worker rather than saved as an app profile.

Cloudflare and Xiaomi MiMo process the transmitted information to provide AI planning. We require service providers that process information on our behalf to protect it in accordance with applicable law and at least the protections described in this policy. Their independent processing is also governed by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and the Xiaomi MiMo Privacy Policy. Only enable AI planning if you are comfortable with this optional processing. You can turn AI planning off in Settings for future requests. Turning it off does not remove a plan already saved on your device.

5. Apple Health

Apple Health integration is optional. If you choose to connect it and grant Apple Health permission, One Day Clearer writes the number of alcoholic beverages from a saved check-in to Apple Health. The app does not request permission to read or import Health data. Apple handles Health data according to its own privacy practices and your device settings. You can manage this permission in the Health app or iOS Settings.

Sharing you initiate

You may export a copy of your data or share a journal entry/PDF. Those actions are initiated by you. Once you share content with another app, person, or service, that recipient's privacy practices apply.

Purchases

Optional in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment-card information. Apple may provide the app with purchase-entitlement information needed to unlock features.

No advertising sale or behavioral tracking

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or behavioral advertising trackers in the app.

7. Your choices and deletion

Local app data: Use Settings → “Export a copy of my data” or “Delete all local data.”
iCloud Sync: Turn it on or off in Settings. It syncs only your profile, plan, plant, and check-ins.
Journal entries: You can edit or delete individual entries in the app.
AI planning: Do not provide consent, or turn the feature off in Settings for future requests.
Apple Health: Revoke access in Apple Health or iOS Settings. Removing the app does not automatically remove samples previously written to Apple Health.
Notifications: Manage notification permission in iOS Settings or turn reminders off in the app.

8. Security

We use the protections provided by iOS for data stored in the app sandbox and its optional on-device App Group, CloudKit's private database protections for optional iCloud Sync, and HTTPS for AI-planning requests. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so please protect your device with appropriate device security controls.

9. Children and age requirement

One Day Clearer is intended for adults. Do not use the app if you are under the legal drinking age where you live. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. We will publish the revised version at this page and update the “Last updated” date.
