Privacy Policy
1. Overview
BloomStep connects everyday walking with the growth of virtual plants. This Privacy Policy explains what information BloomStep handles, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.
2. Information We Handle
Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, BloomStep may handle:
- Apple Health data: With your permission, BloomStep reads step count, walking/running distance, and Apple exercise time through Apple Health (HealthKit). BloomStep does not write data to Apple Health and does not read contacts, heart rate, medical records, or other Health data. Health data is read and processed on your device.
- Health-derived activity progress: BloomStep derives daily step counts, walking distance, active minutes, goals, streaks, challenge progress, and energy earned on your device. This information is used for local app features and is not uploaded to a BloomStep backend.
- Exercise and location data: When you use exercise tracking and grant location permission, BloomStep may receive location updates from Core Location to show your current position and obtain a stable starting point. While an active walk or run is being recorded, eligible updates may be saved as route points containing latitude, longitude, timestamp, and horizontal accuracy. The local exercise record may also include the exercise type, start and end times, active duration, pause state, and distance. Location updates stop when tracking is paused or finished. If you leave the exercise screen while an active recording is still running, the recording may continue until you pause or finish it; iOS may deliver location updates in the background and displays the system location indicator.
- In-app progress: This includes plants, growth, energy, coins, unlocks, achievements, garden styles, seasonal collection progress, weekly journeys, activity history, reflections, and preferences.
- Achievement sharing: If you choose to share a completed challenge or badge, BloomStep creates a poster on your device containing the selected achievement, progress, date, and app branding. BloomStep does not share your GPS route or raw Apple Health data through these posters. The poster is passed to the system share sheet and may be sent to the service or person you choose.
- Purchase and transaction information: For optional coin packs and the one-time full-content unlock, BloomStep and its purchase service provider may handle the product identifier, transaction identifier, purchase date, transaction status, and StoreKit transaction or receipt information. Apple processes payment; BloomStep and RevenueCat do not receive your payment-card or payment-account details.
- Pseudonymous purchase-service information: RevenueCat may create a random app user identifier to associate purchase history with an app installation. BloomStep does not give RevenueCat your name, Apple Health data, or a custom user identifier.
- Notification preferences: If you enable walking reminders, the reminder setting and time are stored locally and used to schedule local notifications after system permission is granted.
3. How We Use Information
BloomStep uses information only to provide and protect the app, including to:
- Convert walking activity into in-app energy and show activity progress;
- Record optional walking or running sessions, draw a route, and show exercise history when you enable location access;
- Save your plants, progress, achievements, purchases, and preferences locally on your device;
- Create a poster for a challenge or badge only when you choose to share it;
- Verify purchases, credit coins, unlock purchased plants and backgrounds, analyze purchase performance, prevent fraud, and troubleshoot transactions;
- Protect purchase flows and provide purchase analytics through RevenueCat.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use Apple Health data, location data, exercise records, purchase information, or the pseudonymous purchase-service identifier for advertising, cross-app tracking, or interest-based marketing.
4. Local Storage and Service Providers
BloomStep stores app data locally on your device for offline use. BloomStep does not operate an account, social service, or progress-sync backend.
Exercise sessions and route points are stored in BloomStep's local app storage. They are not automatically sent to BloomStep, RevenueCat, or another BloomStep server. System features such as Live Activities and widgets use local device or app-group storage to display selected progress.
BloomStep uses RevenueCat, Inc. as a service provider for StoreKit purchase recording, transaction validation, purchase analytics, and fraud prevention. RevenueCat may use service providers and infrastructure in the United States. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy for that provider's practices.
Apple Health, Core Location, StoreKit, RevenueCat, system sharing, Live Activities, and local notification services are provided by third parties. Their handling of information is also subject to their applicable terms and privacy policies.
5. Your Choices and Controls
- You can change BloomStep's Apple Health permission in the Health app or Settings on your iPhone.
- You can change location permission or turn off Location Services in Settings. Without location access, BloomStep cannot record a GPS route, but other app features may remain available.
- You can turn off reminders in BloomStep or disable notifications in system settings.
- You can delete an individual exercise record in BloomStep. You can delete all local BloomStep data by deleting the app or using the device's storage controls. This does not delete purchase records held by Apple or RevenueCat.
- You control whether to share a challenge or badge poster and which system sharing service receives it.
- Apple and RevenueCat may retain purchase records when required for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or recordkeeping purposes. Contact us if you want us to help request deletion of information held by a service provider.
For privacy questions, access requests, or deletion requests, email sampson1993@zohomail.cn.
6. Children's Privacy
BloomStep is not directed to children below the age at which consent is required in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate consent, please email sampson1993@zohomail.cn.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app, legal requirements, or our practices. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of BloomStep after an update means you accept the updated policy.
